Throughout a walkabout at Canal Stroll Purchasing Centre in Cape City, the president paused his greetings to assist a younger woman whose shoelaces had come undone.

In a second trending on social media, Cyril Ramaphosa was seen putting his cellphone and bag on the bottom earlier than crouching right down to tie the laces himself – an act met with smiles, applause, and a refrain of “Awww” from the encircling crowd.
