According to the Telegraph, Newcastle have opened talks with Brighton and Hove Albion over a potential transfer of Joao Pedro.
The Magpies’ interest in the 23-year-old forward comes in the wake of their unsuccessful pursuit of Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo, and they hope this deal can be concluded quickly. Brighton, however, aren’t expected to lower their demand of £60million for Pedro, who has three years still left on his contract at the Amex.
The fact that Brighton have already signed another striker in Charalampos Kostoulas indicates that Pedro may indeed be allowed to leave, but Newcastle haven’t gotten their hopes too high up at this point, due to other Premier League clubs monitoring the situation closely.
In 2024/25, Pedro scored 10 goals and produced seven assists in 30 appearances across all competitions for the Seagulls. Apparently, Newcastle boss Eddie Howe was keen on signing him from Watford in 2022, but then the club managed to land Alexander Isak.
