The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has warned domestic carriers to stop telling passengers that refunds take four weeks, insisting the legal limit is 14 days.

In a statement on X, Michael Achimugu, NCAA’s Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, said operators must follow the rules as written. “Domestic airlines need to stop telling passengers that their refund process takes four weeks. The NCAA regulations are clear… the timeframe for ticket refunds is 14 days. Part 19 of the NCAA Regulations 2023 remains in force,” he said.

Achimugu added that airlines cannot invent their own timelines, noting that such practices undermine the regulator and treat passengers unfairly.

Travellers who are told to wait four weeks have been asked to report the airline’s message to the Authority for investigation.
