No fewer than 500 ladies from throughout the 13 native authorities areas of Nasarawa State on Tuesday stormed Lafia, the state capital to demand the cancellation of Saturday’s governorship election within the state.

The state Girls Chief of the Peoples Democratic Get together, Stella Oboshi, led ladies from the PDP and different political events to the peaceable protest as they claimed the governorship ballot held on March 18 was inconclusive.

Oboshi defined that the explanation for the protest was as a result of the Unbiased Nationwide Electoral Fee went forward to announce a winner of the governorship election amid competition within the outcomes that emanated from the Gayam and Ciroma electoral wards within the state capital.

Oboshi mentioned, “What we’re doing immediately is a peaceable protest and it’s allowed in a democracy. The explanation for our protest is that in Nasarawa State, two electoral wards can’t maintain the entire state to ransom.

“The governorship election and that of the Home of Meeting had been executed the identical day, the identical time and with the identical election supplies. However the governorship election was introduced, and that of the Home of Meeting has not been introduced up until this second as a result of it was declared inconclusive.

“If Gayam and Ciroma wards’ leads to the Lafia LGA had been included within the outcomes that INEC introduced for the governorship election, (and) the Meeting elections had been inconclusive in the identical electoral wards, then INEC also needs to declare the governorship election inconclusive in order that we will begin afresh.”

She appealed to supporters of the PDP and different opposition political events within the state to stay calm, whereas expressing optimism that INEC would do the needful by declaring the already introduced governorship election inconclusive.

Our correspondent experiences that the incumbent Governor, Abdullahi Sule, scored 347, 209 votes within the contest to defeat his closest challenger, David Ombugadu of the PDP who polled 283, 016 votes, whereas Abdullahi Maidoya of the New Nigeria Peoples Get together bought 11,726 votes.
