NAPTIP arrests members of sextortion cult in Abuja

The Nationwide Company for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Individuals (NAPTIP) has apprehended some cultists in Abuja for acts of sexual abuse.

The Press Officer, Vincent Adekoye mentioned the arrests adopted undercover operations ordered by the Director Basic, Fatima Waziri-Azi.

In an announcement on Tuesday, April 4, Adekoye mentioned members of the gang had been terrorising younger women and different Federal Capital Territory residents.

NAPTIP disclosed that it was inundated by a collection of complaints from victims of sextortion who had been blackmailed.

Waziri-Azi, a Professor of Regulation, informed the victims to talk out and to not be gaslit into considering it was their fault.

“It’s a crime in opposition to you. Report all perpetrators. If you don’t report, you might be emboldening these criminals.

“Cease the harassment by reporting it to NAPTIP. Save all chats, or messages between your self and the perpetrator,” she mentioned.

Sextortion is when somebody threatens to distribute nudes and personal movies of one other particular person after they refuse to grant sexual favours or pay cash.

The crime is punishable below the Trafficking in Individuals (Prohibition) Enforcement and Administration Act, 2015 (as re-enacted).
