Scott McTominay had a first-half goal disallowed as Napoli were frustrated in a 0-0 draw with Parma at Stadio Diego Armando Maradona.

Napoli, who were watched from the stands by the suspended Antonio Conte, had the chance to close the gap to leaders Inter to one point before Cristian Chivu’s side play, but instead, they remain third, three points behind them.

McTominay had the ball in the back of the net 11 minutes in for Napoli. Alessandro Circati’s clearance struck the post, and McTominay turned in the rebound on his second attempt, but it was ruled out for a VAR review for an offside against Paquale Mazzocchi in the build-up.

Alessandro Buongiorno then thumped a header straight at Filippo Rinaldo from the edge of the six-yard box, while the goalkeeper also got down smartly to keep out Rasmus Hojlund.

McTominay and Noa Lang both saw shots blocked in the early stages of the second half, as Napoli continued to push for an opener without any luck.

Amir Rrahmani blazed a tight-angled shot over the crossbar from the right of the box in one of Napoli’s best late chances, but they could not find a way through Parma’s rigid defence.

Data Debrief: Titles hopes dented?

Napoli’s 2-2 draw with Inter ensured they kept the Nerazzurri in their sights, but by dropping more points against Parma, Conte’s side may now have a bigger mountain to climb.

They certainly had their chances against Parma, racking up 16 shots worth 1.39 expected goals (xG), though only four were on target.

Napoli also had 45 touches in the opposition box (to Parma’s four), and 93 final-third entries, though they just could not find a breakthrough.

It is the second straight 0-0 draw that the sides have played out in Serie A, while the Partenopei have registered three straight stalemates in the competition for the first time since February 2025.
