The Nationwide Company for Meals and Medication Administration and Management (NAFDAC) says it raided 10 warehouses in Sabon Gari market in Kano, confiscating unregistered meals merchandise. The company arrested two suspects.

NAFDAC’s deputy director of the Investigation and Enforcement Directorate of NAFDAC in Kaduna, Tamanuwa Andrew, disclosed this on Wednesday.

The NAFDAC official defined that the warehouses have been at Sabon Gari market and Unity highway and revealed that the merchandise seized included 500 cartons of milk creamer, 3,655 cartons of lollipop sweet, 1,800 cartons of monosodium glutamate, 162 baggage of star milk and 300 cartons of chocolate.

“Our investigations will reveal the supply of the merchandise and their nation of manufacture as a result of all of them are imported, not manufactured domestically in Nigeria. We are going to ship them to the laboratory to establish their high quality and see if they’re protected for consumption,” he stated.

In keeping with the NAFDAC official, among the seized merchandise could comprise dangerous substances which trigger most cancers.
