The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has sustained its offensive against terrorist elements in Borno State, carrying out a series of precision follow-up air strikes targeting fleeing insurgents and regrouping cells in the Jilli axis.

The operation, executed on Saturday, was conducted by the Air Component of Operation HADIN KAI as part of ongoing counter-terrorism efforts in Nigeria’s North-East region.

According to a statement issued on Sunday, by Ehimen Ejodame, NAF’s Director of Public Relations and Information, the strikes were a continuation of earlier coordinated assaults that had already dealt significant blows to terrorist positions in the area.

The NAF said the latest mission specifically targeted remnants of insurgent groups attempting to escape and reorganise within the difficult terrain of the Jilli axis, a known hotspot for terrorist activity in Borno State.

The air strikes formed part of  air-ground integration strategy involving close coordination with the Nigerian Army.

The Force said the operation was intelligence-driven, relying on credible information gathered from multiple sources and verified by operational command structures before execution.

“The follow-up strikes were aimed at consolidating earlier gains by neutralising fleeing elements and preventing their regrouping,” the statement noted.

It added that the mission reflects a growing emphasis on proactive and sustained engagements rather than isolated offensives.

The renewed aerial bombardments come amid intensified efforts by Nigerian forces to track down and dismantle terrorist networks blamed for recent attacks on military formations and civilian communities across the North-East.

The NAF reiterated its commitment to maintaining persistent surveillance and rapid response capabilities, assuring residents of affected communities that efforts to restore stability and safeguard lives and property remain a top priority.
