Sept. 29 (UPI) — A number of folks have been killed following the crash of a single-engine aircraft in a wooded space of North Carolina, authorities stated. The variety of folks useless and the names of the victims haven’t been launched.

The only-engine aircraft crashed into the woods close to the Wright Brothers Nationwide Memorial’s First Flight Airport in North Carolina, in response to a press launch from the Nationwide Park Service.

Eyewitnesses stated the aircraft crashed whereas making an attempt to land on the airport at about 5 p.m. EDT Saturday.

“Following the crash, a hearth ensued that brought on the airplane to burn,” the NPS press launch stated.

The hearth was extinguished by the Kill Satan Hills North Carolina Hearth Division and different native departments, the NPS stated in its launch.

The Nationwide Transportation Security Board will examine the reason for the crash, officers stated. The FAA was even be notified, the NPS stated. Federal companies usually examine aircraft crashes, even when they’re small, single-engine plane.

Officers closed the airport Sunday on account of the crash.
