MultiChoice Nigeria Names Kemi Omotosho as New CEO

Published on

MultiChoice Nigeria has entered a new era with the appointment of Kemi Omotosho as its new Chief Executive Officer. Effective January 2026, Omotosho takes the lead at one of Africa’s biggest entertainment companies, succeeding John Ugbe, who is retiring after nearly 15 years in the role.

This leadership change marks a significant shift as the company looks to modernize its services and grow Nigeria’s creative industry.

Who is Kemi Omotosho?

Kemi Omotosho is a seasoned executive with over 20 years of experience in media and telecommunications. She isn’t a stranger to MultiChoice; she has worked within the group for years, holding major roles such as:

  • Executive Head of Customer Value Management: Focusing on keeping customers happy and growing digital product use.
  • Regional Director for Southern Africa: Managing operations across seven different countries.

Before joining MultiChoice, she built a strong foundation in customer service and revenue management at Airtel Nigeria.

She is well-educated, holding a degree in Biochemistry from the University of Ilorin and an Executive MBA from the Lagos Business School.

Her Mission for MultiChoice Nigeria

Omotosho is taking over at a time when the media landscape is changing fast. Her main goals include:

  • Growing Local Content: Making sure Nigerian stories remain at the heart of what MultiChoice offers.
  • Boosting the Creative Economy: Supporting local filmmakers and creators to help the industry grow.
  • Improving Operations: Using her experience to make sure the company runs smoothly and provides better value to customers.

“It is a privilege to lead MultiChoice Nigeria at this important moment. I look forward to working with our teams to champion local storytelling and build a future-ready organization.” — Kemi Omotosho.

What to note

John Ugbe leaves behind a massive legacy. Under his leadership, MultiChoice expanded its footprint across Nigeria and introduced several innovations that changed how we watch TV.

Now, the baton passes to Omotosho to navigate the next chapter of digital entertainment in Nigeria.
