Manny Pacquiao has launched his latest outing to prepare for a career after fighting in the form of a new Team Boxing League franchise.

The legendary boxing champion is due to face Floyd Mayweather in a September super-fight at Sphere in Las Vegas. But with negotiations hitting a stalemate despite the pair announcing the highly-anticipated rematch, he is looking to the future when he can no longer get in the ring.

Manny Pacquiao launches new Team Boxing League franchise

Just last year, Manny Pacquiao returned to professional boxing and showed himself to still be in the vicinity of world level with a draw against Mario Barrios, who at the time held WBC gold. He is set to face Mayweather again later this year, but his career is clearly in its final stages.

As a result, he has linked with the Team Boxing League to make a ‘nine-figure commitment centered on long-term platform growth’, according to a press release today. The league promises to be built on equity participation, recurring competition, and global expansion.

“This is not just about fighting anymore,” Pacquiao said in a statement on Monday evening. “This is a new chapter in my life. I have accomplished everything I wanted in boxing, and now I want to build something bigger than myself.

“I truly believe this is the League of Destiny, and I want to help shape the future of boxing and create opportunities for the next generation. I’m proud to build Manny Pacquiao’s San Diego TJ’s and bring something special to fans around the world.”

As for the team itself, Pacquiao added: “I’m proud to be an owner of Manny Pacquiao’s San Diego TJ’s. This is my team, and I’m excited to build something special by bringing great fighters, strong competition, and a winning culture to fans around the world.”
