Their love story, as shared by Michelle:

Our journey began with what appeared to be a simple, ordinary moment—one that quietly carried the promise of forever. At the time, we had no idea that destiny was already weaving our paths together, preparing us for a love that would grow beyond anything we imagined. Frederick and I met in June 2023 at a work retreat that brought together staff from our respective organisations and participants from other institutions. We were both nominated to attend, and the retreat was held at Zuma Rock Resorts. I was hesitant at first and almost chose not to go, unaware that a single decision would change the course of my life. But fate has a gentle way of leading us exactly where we need to be.

On the day we arrived, my eyes met Frederick for the very first time at the registration booth as I was seated with my colleagues, and in that brief moment, something stirred in my heart. It felt like love at first sight—unexpected, quiet, yet undeniable. After registering, he walked over to our table to introduce himself. I soon realised he was familiar with one of my colleagues, and that simple connection made the moment feel even more effortless, as though the universe itself was giving us an easy beginning.

The next day, the retreat officially began, and we were assigned to teams. By what felt like divine orchestration, Frederick and I were placed in the same group of rapporteurs, responsible for documenting the retreat’s activities. It felt too perfect to be a coincidence, as though destiny was gently insisting that we grow closer. When our team created a WhatsApp group for communication, Frederick reached out to me—and from that moment, our story truly began.

At first, I wondered if the connection I felt was mine alone. But I later discovered that Frederick had already been speaking about me to his friend, who was also my colleague. Knowing that the interest was mutual made my heart melt and turned curiosity into certainty.

As the days passed, everything between us felt natural and beautifully easy. Our conversations flowed without effort, filled with laughter, understanding, and warmth. In our free moments, we walked hand in hand around the retreat centre, cycled together, played games, shared meals, and stole quiet moments to simply enjoy each other’s presence. For the entire week, we were inseparable, our friendship deepening into something tender and meaningful.

When the retreat came to an end, and we returned to our separate homes, distance could not undo what had already taken root in our hearts. We stayed in touch, holding on to the connection we had formed. For two months, we chose friendship—building trust, understanding, and a strong foundation that would support the love to come.

In time, it became clear that what we shared was rare and beautiful. What began as an unexpected meeting blossomed into a love we could no longer ignore. We realised we were meant for each other, brought together by a moment we almost missed and a journey we will forever cherish.

Today, we look back with grateful hearts, thankful that fate stepped in, transformed a simple work retreat into the beginning of our love story, and led us into a lifelong commitment—one rooted in friendship, guided by destiny, and sealed with love. 💕
