LAWMA demolishes shanties, clears avenue merchants alongside Lekki-Epe expressway

The Lagos Waste Administration Authority (LAWMA) has demolished shanties and different unlawful buildings utilized by avenue merchants and visitors distributors, alongside the First and Second Toll Gates, of the Lekki-Epe Expressway, in a complete enforcement train, that lasted for hours.

That hall has of late change into infamous, for sustained visitors congestion and different environmental nuisance, largely aided by the unlawful actions of these distributors.

Commenting on the train, the managing director/CEO of LAWMA, Mr. Ibrahim Odumboni, condemned in clear phrases, the actions of these merchants, warning that anybody caught making an attempt to re-assemble the buildings could be immediately arrested and prosecuted.

He mentioned, “We’ve got declared zero tolerance on avenue buying and selling alongside the Lekki-Epe Expressway as these actions have led to important environmental nuisances and visitors congestion. It’s our obligation to make sure that our metropolis stays clear and liveable for all residents and guests. Therefore, we urge all merchants to vacate the expressway instantly and keep away from any additional environmental infractions”.





Moreover, the LAWMA boss appealed to residents to take a brand new strategy to how they deal with the surroundings. He confused the significance of environmental accountability, cautioning that stringent penalties awaited those that continued to ignore the laws in place.

Odumboni hinted that the crackdown on avenue buying and selling could be sustained in that axis and prolonged to others within the metropolis, in keeping with LAWMA’s broader mission to enhance the general cleanliness and livability of Lagos, including that arrested offenders could be prosecuted, with their names and pictures printed.
