Operatives of the Lagos State Police Command have arrested two males with seventy cartons of expired medication.
Spokesperson of the command, Benjamin Hundeyin, disclosed this in an announcement on Sunday, February 4, 2024,
In response to the PPRO, officers from the Okokomaiko Division stopped the suspicious Volkswagen LT bus for a search and located seventy cartons of Feed Superb Cyproheptadine Caplets 4g, which all had an expiry date of 2016.
Upon interrogation, the 2 occupants within the bus stated they have been transporting the expired medication to a person in Alaba to alter the expiry dates after which the medication can be taken to Port Harcourt on the market.
“At about 5:40 pm on Saturday, a patrol staff from Okokomaiko Division stopped and searched a Volkswagen LT bus at Afromedia,” the PPRO said.
“Discovered within the bus have been seventy cartons of Feed Superb Cyproheptadine Caplets 4g, all with an expiry date of 2016.
“The 2 occupants of the car, Augustine Egemoye ‘m’ aged 60, and Harmless Eremosele ‘m’ aged 35 confessed they have been taking the expired medication to anyone in Alaba who would change the expiry dates and thereafter proceeded with the medication to Port-Harcourt to be bought.
“Suspects, drug and the car are at present in custody.
“Efforts are on to arrest the proprietor of the medication, the person altering expiry dates and different indicted individuals.”
