The Gender Unit of the Nigeria Safety and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Kwara State Command, below the management of Umar Mohammed, has vowed to proceed to make substantial progress in its efforts to fight Gender-Primarily based Violence (GBV) and shield susceptible people inside the state.

Talking with journalists on the state Command headquarters in Ilorin, Commandant Umar disclosed that the Gender Unit has attended to 1 hundred and fifty-nine (159) instances of Gender-Primarily based Violence (GBV) over the past one 12 months.

These instances embrace; 76 instances of home violence, bodily assault and intimidation, 58 instances of abandonment of duty, 11 instances of sexual abuse and rape; 12 instances of threats to life and a couple of instances of lacking kids.
