Kanye set to perform in South Africa – but is it legit?

Kanye West’s X account has announced news that Kanye West is set to perform in South Africa in a one-night-only concert in December. But the jury is out on whether the show or its music promoters – the Monyake Group – are legit.

Kim Kardashian’s ex-husband visited the country in 2006, 2013, and 2016.

KANYE WEST COMING TO SOUTH AFRICA?

In the X post – on Kanye’s X account @ye – the muso supposedly announced that Johannesburg would be on his list of  countries to perform in, in 2025

The ad read: “Ye Live in South Africa

“Johannesburg, 13 December 2025

“Only performance in South Africa”.

According to the flier, the concert would be held at Ellis Park and organized by music promoters the Monyake Group. Fans were invited to register for tickets on TicketPro.

RED FLAGS?

In the comments section, South Africans were overjoyed that their favourite artist would be coming to Mzansi.

However, many were left doubting the legitimacy of news about Kanye West’s supposed concert in Johannesburg.

Many outlined the following “red flags” of the poster…

  • Monyake Group does not have an operating website
  • The only contact details are an email address
  • There is no word about the concert on TicketPro
  • Monyake Group’s Instagram account has a handful of followers and posts, with the last post being made in 2020.
  • Kanye has not mentioned the concert on his Instagram accounts

The South African has reached out to the Monyake Group for confirmation. An update will be provided.
