Kaizer Chiefs defender Miguel Inácio is skating on thin ice and could miss crucial CAF Confederation Cup matches due to suspension concerns.

The 30-year-old Angolan was booked during Chiefs’ recent clash against Zesco United, meaning another caution in their next CAF outing would see him automatically suspended from Amakhosi’s subsequent match.

Inácio’s disciplinary record this season has been a cause for concern. He has already picked up eight yellow cards across 19 appearances in all competitions.

The defender has served one suspension after accumulating four bookings and now sits just two yellow cards away from another ban in the Betway Premiership.

In continental competition, the situation is equally delicate. According to the CAF Confederation Cup Regulations on Disciplinary Measures, “a player who receives three cautions shall be automatically suspended from playing the subsequent match in CAF inter-club competitions.”

Inácio is currently on the brink of reaching that threshold.

The Kaizer Chiefs defender has built a reputation for frequent bookings. Last season, he accumulated eight yellow cards and a red card, highlighting ongoing disciplinary issues.

Notably, Inácio was left out of the matchday squad for Wednesday’s encounter against Marumo Gallants.

While the club did not give an official explanation, the decision could be linked to concerns over his discipline or a tactical choice by the technical team as they assess their options ahead of this weekend’s crucial CAF Confederation Cup fixture against Zesco United at home.
