Winners have emerged from the 9th edition of the All Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA), held on Sunday, January 11, 2026, at the Eko Convention Centre, Eko Hotels and Suites, Lagos.
The ceremony marked the grand finale of a week-long celebration of African music and culture, which ran from January 7 to January 11, in partnership with the African Union Commission, the Federal Government of Nigeria, and the Lagos State Government as host city.

Hosted by Nigerian rapper and actor Falz alongside French-Senegalese actress and media personality Liliane Maroune, the night brought together musicians, Nollywood stars, industry executives, and fans from across Africa and the diaspora.

Several Nigerian film personalities, including Iyabo Ojo, Kunle Afolayan, Segun Arinze, Annie Macualay, and Yvonne Jegede, were among the notable guests in attendance.
Nigerian superstar Rema emerged as the biggest winner of the night, clinching three major awards.
He won Artiste of the Year, the most prestigious honour of the ceremony, as well as Best Male Artiste in Western Africa and Best African Artiste, Duo or Group in African R&B & Soul.

Nigeria continued its strong showing on the night, with Burna Boy securing Album of the Year for No Sign of Weakness.
Shallipopi, featuring Burna Boy, won Best African Collaboration for “Laho”, a track that also featured prominently among the year’s most celebrated songs.
Phyno claimed Best African Artiste, Duo or Group in African Hip Hop for “Trouble Maker”, while Qing Madi was named Most Promising Artiste of the Year. Chella took home the African Fans’ Favourite award.

Across the continent, Ghana’s Wendy Shay won Best Female Artiste in Western Africa, while Tanzania’s Jux emerged as Best Male Artiste in Eastern Africa. Zambia’s Yo Maps and South Africa’s Nontokozo Mkhize secured the top male and female honours, respectively, in Southern Africa.

Rwanda also made history as Element Eléeeeh became the country’s first AFRIMA winner after taking Best Producer of the Year.
The ceremony was punctuated by electrifying performances, including a notable reunion between Ghana’s Stonebwoy and Nigeria’s Mr P, who performed their 2025 collaboration “ODO”, blending Afrobeats and dancehall influences in a celebration of cross-cultural unity.
Shallipopi, Seyi Vibez and Fuji maestro Adewale Ayuba also pulled up a surprise performance at the ceremony.
The 2026 AFRIMA Awards showcased African music’s global rise, with Rema’s wins marking a defining moment for Afrobeats.
