Governor Umar Namadi of Jigawa State on Wednesday signed into law the Jigawa State Appropriation Law 2026, covering both the state government and the 27 local government councils.

The state government budget stands at ₦901.84 billion, while the consolidated budget of the 27 local government councils is ₦288.85 billion.

Speaking shortly after signing the bill at the Council Chamber, Jigawa State Government House, Dutse, the governor said the budget was the outcome of his administration’s extensive citizen engagement programme and reflects the yearnings and aspirations of the people of Jigawa State.

According to him, “It is, therefore, a citizens’ budget, exactly what our people asked us to do and exactly what is contained in this budget.

“I wish to sincerely thank the members of the Jigawa State House of Assembly for their dedication and commitment throughout the budget process. Their support during the citizen engagement sessions, bilateral meetings, high-level discussions, and committee stages played a critical role in the smooth passage of this budget. I also commend members of the State Executive Council for approving and actively participating in the citizen engagement programme, as well as for their tireless efforts in gathering inputs from our citizens, often working late into the night. This level of commitment is truly commendable.”

The governor also appreciated the state civil service for its vital role in compiling the budget.

“Our civil servants have shown professionalism, dedication, and commitment, and as a government, we will continue to support efforts aimed at improving their welfare. I also thank our Senior Special Advisers, Technical Advisers, Special Advisers, and Special Assistants, particularly those working in the education, health, and agriculture sectors, for their contributions to the success of this process.

“I want to thank the entire people of Jigawa State for their continued support and cooperation. Without their participation, we would not have achieved what we have today. This budget is ambitious, but realistic, as it reflects the genuine needs and aspirations of our people. I assure the Jigawa State House of Assembly, the State Executive Council, civil servants, advisers, and all citizens that, by the grace of Allah, this budget will be fully implemented.

“I pray that Allah, the Ultimate Provider, grants us the resources and strength to successfully execute this budget for the benefit of the people of Jigawa State,” he added.
