Kennedy Agyapong, Assin Central Member of Parliament (MP)  has revealed that the unlawful mining actions, often known as galamsey, in Ghana will not be solely the actions of politicians but in addition contain conventional leaders.

In an interview with 3News, Agyapong highlighted that sure chiefs are deeply concerned within the unlawful mining operations, alongside politicians.

He recounted an occasion from his constituency the place he encountered people possessing mining gear. When questioned, they admitted to paying a neighborhood chief GH₵2,000 and giving him a sheep in alternate for permission to mine within the space.

Agyapong emphasised that fixing the difficulty requires boldly acknowledging the reality, noting, “The issue is from the constituencies. I also can let you know that a few of the chiefs are concerned, not simply politicians.” He added that patriotism and honesty are essential to addressing the menace, urging all stakeholders to take accountability.
