Interswitch participated in the maiden edition of Delta Tech Week 2025, a technology and innovation festival organised by the Delta State Government through the Ministry of Science and Technology.

The five-day event was held in Asaba between December 1 and 5. It brought together startups, technology firms, developers, investors, academics, and public sector institutions. The gathering reflects the state government’s broader ambition to position Delta as an emerging technology hub in Nigeria’s South-South region.

As part of its involvement, Interswitch sponsored sessions at the festival. It also engaged developers and businesses through product demonstrations and panel discussions. These engagements focused on payments, digital commerce, and technology infrastructure. They formed part of wider conversations around innovation, entrepreneurship, and digital inclusion at the sub-national level.

During the event, the company demonstrated its application programming interface (API) marketplace and payment gateway. The sessions outlined how businesses can integrate payment, collections, reconciliation, and merchant services into their platforms. Much of the engagement was targeted at developers and startups exploring scalable payment infrastructure within the Nigerian market.

Panel discussions at the festival addressed a range of issues. These included financial inclusion, digital commerce, developer ecosystems, and the role of infrastructure in economic growth. The conversations mirrored growing interest among policymakers and private sector players in expanding digital services beyond Nigeria’s major commercial centres.

Speaking at one of the sessions, Olayinka Oluwadamilare, head of operations strategy at Interswitch, said collaboration between government, developers, and private companies was essential for accelerating innovation at the regional level.

Delta Tech Week also featured a number of satellite events. These included DevFest and a Women in Tech Summit. There was also breakout sessions focused on software development, entrepreneurship, payments, and infrastructure.

Company representatives at the event included Adeyinka Adekoya, vice president for the energy ecosystem; Blessing Ogbonna James, head of digital payments; Chidi Opara Ndudu, partner manager; and Esohe Obaseki, executive for growth marketing.

The inaugural Delta Tech Week comes at a time when state governments across Nigeria are increasingly turning to technology-driven initiatives. These efforts are aimed at stimulating job creation, attracting private investment, and deepening participation in the country’s digital economy.
