The Ikeja Electrical energy Distribution Firm has decreased the electrical energy tariff payable by its Band A prospects to N206.80 per kilowatt-hour from the N225/kWh authorised by the Nigerian Electrical energy Regulatory Fee (NERC).
The spokesperson for the IKEDC, Olufadeke Omo-Omorodion, disclosed this in an announcement launched on Monday, Might 6. In response to the assertion, the downward tariff evaluate of the Band A prospects would take impact from Monday, Might 6, 2024. The assertion reads
”Pricey Esteemed Clients,
Please be told of the downward tariff evaluate of our Band A feeders from N225/kwh to N206.80/kwh efficient sixth Might 2024 with assured availability of 20-24hrs provide each day.
The tariff for Bands B, C, D, and E stays unchanged.”
The choice to crash the tariff is probably not unconnected with public outcry over the rise in electrical energy which business observers, Civil Society Organisations, and labour unions have described as insensitive.
