Haiti: Imminent deployment of Kenya-led worldwide police drive

Haiti

The deployment of the Kenyan police drive for a peace conserving mission in Haiti, will likely happen within the coming week or two, assured William Ruto, the Kenyan President on Sunday ninth of June. 

Kenya is required to steer this mission that was concluded in october 2023 by the United Nations Safety Council with a troop of 1,000 policemen to affix forces with the haitian police within the battle in opposition to organised gangs.

Different countires participating on this mission embody The Republic of Bénin, The Bahamas, Bangladesh, Barbados, and Chad.

In Kenya, this contraversial issue was taken to the court of justice on the 26th of January, terming  the operation uncostitutional, unlawful and invalid. 

Human Rights Watch Organisation on the finish of Might questioned amongst others, the Human rights file of the Kenyan police which has been accused prior to now of utilizing extreme drive and extrajudicial executions.

Haiti has for many years now suffered a continual political stalemate with 80 p.c of the Capital Port au Prince beneath the management of the prison gangs accused of a number of executionsm killings, rape and kidnapping for ransom.
