Ebonyi State Governor, Francis Nwifuru, has suspended the state’s Commissioner for Well being, Dr. Moses Ekuma and his Housing and City Improvement counterpart, Francis Ori.
The 2 commissioners had been suspended on Monday throughout the State Government Council assembly in Abakaliki, the state capital.
Commissioner for Info and State Orientation, Jude Okpor, in a press release, on Tuesday morning, stated, “Following instances of gross misconduct and dereliction of duties by some authorities officers and issues associated thereto, the Chairman of Council directed the indefinite suspension of the Honourable Commissioner for Housing and City Improvement and three months suspension of the Honourable Commissioner for Well being, respectively.”
The event, it was learnt will not be unconnected to the alleged theft of some property belonging to the Ministry of Well being by its officers and the reported underperformance of the Housing and City Improvement commissioner and his shoddy dealing with of the Amaeze Housing Scheme within the Ishielu Native Authorities Space of the state.
Governor Nwifuru, on Saturday evening, reportedly visited the well being ministry’s premises unannounced and caught six officers allegedly diverting authorities supplies.
The governor ordered their quick arrest and eventual prosecution.
