The Nigeria Police Force has taken custody of Victor Benjamin Fajemirokun, the fugitive accused of abducting and killing Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) officer Lasisi Funmilayo and her daughter, Sewa, in incidents spanning Ogun and Osun states.

Fajemirokun, 36, was arrested in Ghana on Sunday after fleeing Nigeria to evade a nationwide manhunt. George Ohene-Boadi, commander of the Eastern South Regional Police, said Ghanaian officers acted after reviewing a video alleging the suspect had kidnapped and killed the victims.

NPF spokesperson Benjamin Hundeyin said in a statement on Monday that Fajemirokun was transferred to Nigerian authorities in Accra through the INTERPOL National Central Bureau (NCB) Abuja.

“The suspect was handed over by the Ghana Police Service today in Accra, Ghana, following a coordinated multi-agency operation,” the statement said. “Fejemirokun had fled Nigeria after the abduction and suspected murder of an FRSC officer and her young daughter in Osun State.”

Hundeyin said Ghanaian police arrested the suspect based on “credible intelligence” and immediately notified their Nigerian counterparts, prompting INTERPOL NCB Abuja to travel to Accra to finalise the handover.

Inspector-General of Police Kayode Egbetokun offered condolences to the victims’ family and assured the public that investigators would pursue the case “thoroughly and professionally.” He said Fajemirokun would be arraigned upon conclusion of the investigation.

The IGP also commended the Ghana Police Service for its “professionalism and cooperation” in tracking and surrendering the suspect.
