Way forward for our youths lies in Nigeria, not Europe – AfDB boss

The President of African Improvement Financial institution, Dr. Akinwumi Adesina, on Wednesday, mentioned the way forward for the Nigerian youths doesn’t lie in any nation however in Nigeria.

He mentioned this in Lagos whereas talking on the 2023 Obafemi Awolowo Prize for Management in Lagos.

Adesina was awarded the 2023 Obafemi Awolowo Prize for Leadership Award.

Former heads of state, state governors, royal fathers and different distinguished Nigerians graced the occasion.

Previous winners of the celebrated award are Nobel Laureate, Wole Soyinka; former South African President, Thabo Mbeki; and lawyer, Aare Afe Babalola.

Adesina added that Nigerians should make the nation a viable place for individuals to remain and never a spot to run away from.

“I refuse to imagine that the way forward for Nigeria’s and Africa’s youths lie in Europe, North America, Asia, or wherever else. I imagine that their future should lie in Africa, rising nicely, robustly, capable of create high quality jobs and respectable earnings for our younger individuals.

Let’s take delight in ourselves and let’s make our demographic asset our financial asset globally. I firmly imagine that their future lies proper right here in Nigeria,” he mentioned.

The previous Minister of Agriculture from 2011 to 2015 decried the migration to different international locations by Nigerians, particularly youths, because it doesn’t develop sustainability.
