Soccer: Rafael Leão sufferer of racist insults on Instagram

AC Milan striker Rafael Leão has hit out at “narrow-minded” folks after turning into the newest sufferer of racial abuse, as the issue continues to plague Italian soccer.

Leão shared an Instagram story from a social media person who wrote in Italian: “I am unable to stand seeing you anymore. I am unable to stand supporting you on the pitch anymore. I am turning into racist… Go away asap, you and your followers”.

On Tuesday, Leão, 24, commented on the matter in Portuguese: “Sadly, there are at all times these sorts of narrow-minded folks on the earth. “

This new racist incident in Italian soccer comes precisely a month after Leão left the sphere with the remainder of his Milan teammates after Rossoneri goalkeeper, Mike Maignan, was the sufferer of racist insults at Udinese. The supporters had been shortly recognized and banned for all times by Udinese.

“We’re with you Rafa,” Milan stated in a message on X. “In our group of supporters and in soccer there isn’t a place for racism.”

Quite a few racist incidents have taken place in Italian and European soccer for years, with victims in Italy equivalent to Kevin-Prince Boateng, Mario Balotelli and Romelu Lukaku.

Final month, Lazio had been punished with a partial stadium closure for racist chants towards Lukaku.
