Disclosing this on X, the state Commissioner of Water and Surroundings, Tokunbo Wahab, mentioned the drainage channel which defloods Bariga, Gbagada, Sholuyi downstream communities and environs, and discharges into System 1 has been taken over by squatters who has constituted nuisance and safety dangers to the  Property, and property house owners who intentionally constructed to impede free circulate of water within the space. 

In keeping with Wahab, shanties had been erected alongside the size of the channel and their actions had blocked collectors which are supposed to hold stormwater into the Channel which resulted to the flooding skilled in the course of the week.
