Filming Policemen on obligation is allowed — FPRO

The Nigeria Police Power has affirmed that residents have the correct to file movies of law enforcement officials whereas they’re on obligation.

The Power spokesperson, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, acknowledged this in response to an X consumer, #Boy_Cyril, who reported being extorted by law enforcement officials for recording them throughout a stop-and-search operation.

Boy_Cyril wrote, “Sir, is it a criminal offense to Replace throughout cease and search as a result of I needed to pay N10,000 for these officers to provide me again my telephone after taking it forcefully from me simply now.”

Addressing the problem, Adejobi careworn that filming or photographing law enforcement officials within the line of obligation will not be an offence.

In his response, Adejobi mentioned, “You may Replace or take photos of policemen on obligation. Now we have mentioned it severally. There may be nothing fallacious with that.
