FG Stops NLC’s Deliberate Nationwide Strike – Ngige

The Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr Chris Ngige, has revealed that he was optimistic that the deliberate nationwide strike by the Nigerian Labour Congress wouldn’t maintain.

This, he defined, was as a result of the Federal Authorities had intervened to avert the economic motion.

He famous that Tuesday’s assembly of the NLC’s Nationwide Govt Committee would deal with the implementation of a number of steps by the Central Financial institution to avail money nationwide to alleviate the struggling triggered by extended money crunch within the nation.

Ngige disclosed this on the 68th session of the State Home Ministerial Briefing organised by the Presidential Communications Crew on the Aso Rock Villa, Abuja.

Ngige alongside the CBN Governor, Dr Godwin Emefiele, met the management of the NLC on Monday to avert a nationwide strike deliberate for Wednesday, March 29.

NLC had threatened to kickoff a nationwide industrial motion if the Federal Authorities failed to deal with the lingering money crunch, gasoline shortage, and electrical energy tariff hike.

Nonetheless, Ngige, in his effort to avert the deliberate strike, invited the management of the labour union and the CBN administration to a gathering at his Abuja workplace on Monday, to resolve their variations.

Talking on Tuesday, the Labour Minister mentioned, “At this second we’re now not speaking about whether or not or to not go on strike. We’re solely discussing the implementation of the CBN’s response to the entire scenario.

“In the present day, Tuesday March 28, the Nationwide Financial Committee of the labour union from states and native authorities areas will report back to the nationwide management. And I’m optimistic that they won’t proceed with the strike deliberate for Wednesday.

“Now we have apprehended the dispute and when the minister apprehends a dispute, the subsequent line of motion is to take care of establishment antebellum”, Ngige mentioned.
