The Federal Government has just published the results of the 2025 National Common Entrance Examination (NCEE) for admission into Junior Secondary 1 at its 80 Federal Unity Colleges (FUCs), as well as for the Federal Government Academy (FGA) in Suleja.

At a press briefing in Abuja on Wednesday, Minister of State for Education Prof. Suwaiba Ahmad described the release as “a moment of fulfilment and progress for basic education in Nigeria.” The exam, held on June 14 by the National Examinations Council (NECO), saw 64,578 pupils register; 61,290 sat the test, while 3,288 were absent.

Out of a possible 210 marks, 13 candidates scored 202,the highest this year,while 27 candidates scored just one mark. The minister also reported an “unprecedented” 52 cases of malpractice, involving two pupils in Lagos and 50 in Rivers State.

For the FGA Suleja exam, 3,421 registered, 3,141 sat, and 280 were absent. The top score there was 194, and the lowest was one.

Prof. Ahmad reminded officials that admission slots will be filled on the basis of 60 percent merit, 30 percent state equality and 10 percent special needs. She has tasked the Senior Secondary Education Department to finalise all offers quickly and in line with these guidelines.

“Our Federal Unity Colleges remain the first choice for many parents,” she said. “The government will keep improving school buildings, feeding and teacher quality to support learning.”
