FEC approves over N4bn to build barracks for NDLEA personnel

The Federal Govt Council (FEC) has accepted over 4 billion naira for the development of barracks to accommodate the personnel of the Nationwide Drug Regulation Enforcement Company (NDLEA).

The Lawyer Basic of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami (SAN), who made the announcement, stated the challenge grew to become essential due to the “unprecedented” threats and assaults on personnel, officers, males and different ranks of the company.

Malami stated; 

“What was introduced at the moment by the workplace of the Lawyer Basic and Minister of Justice is a council memo on the occasion of Nationwide Drug Regulation Enforcement Company (NDLEA). As you’re conscious, there’s a renewed and sustained onslaught in opposition to drug cartels and barons time beyond regulation.

“Inside the three months of 2023, about 18,940 arrests had been affected by the NDLEA and medicines with estimated worth of over N40 billion naira had been confiscated. Once more, about 2,904 convictions had been recorded. These successes that had been recorded sadly translated to unprecedented threats and assaults on personnel, officers, males and different ranks of the company.

“After which the necessity has arisen for the Federal Authorities to think about the potential of safety measures that may now present the prerequisite safety to the officers and males of the company for fee.”

Malami added that the contracts had been awarded to 2 corporations to hold out the challenge. They’re Wizchino Engineering Restricted and JP Sigma Nigeria Restricted.

The blocks which include many flats, price N2.2 billion to the primary contractor and the sum of N2.8 billion to the second contractor.
