56 Days (Amazon Prime)

56 Days by Catherine Ryan Howard
Catherine Ryan Howard’s twisty murder mystery—set in Dublin during the pandemic, where you don’t know upfront who is dead—is a page-turner like all her dark thrillers are. The present-day chapters follow two detectives working on a murder case, and the past chapters (starting 56 days before) follow as Ciara and Oliver meet and fall in love.
The 8-episode series begins on February 18th on Prime Video, and while it still focuses on how 56 days ago Ciara and Oliver met and now one of them is dead in Oliver’s apartment, the show has changed locations (to Boston), and it is not set during the COVID lockdown. The central couple and investigators are played by Dove Cameron, Avan Jogia, Karla Souza, and Dorian Missick.

Crime 101 [Movie Tie-in] by Don Winslow
Don Winslow’s 2021 audiobook novella now has a movie tie-in paperback release that is novel-length and made up of six stories—beginning with the original Crime 101. It starts with the one last-job jewelry heist trope, and a relentless detective, as the collection dives into “themes of crime, vengeance, guilt, and redemption.”
You can watch the same titled film in theaters on February 13th. And if you weren’t already sold on the jewelry heist trope, the cast alone absolutely sells this film: Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Barry Keoghan, Monica Barbaro, Corey Hawkins, Halle Berry, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Nick Nolte, and Tate Donovan.
