Max Dowman made Premier League history as Arsenal secured a crucial 2–0 win over Everton to extend their lead at the top of the table to 10 points.
The 16-year-old sealed the victory in stoppage time, sprinting from inside his own half before calmly rolling the ball into an empty net after Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford had come forward for a late corner.

The win moves Arsenal 10 points clear at the summit ahead of Manchester City, who still have two games in hand and can reduce the gap when they visit West Ham United.
Despite the crucial result, Arsenal struggled for creativity for long spells at the Emirates. Manager Mikel Arteta started Kai Havertz as the central striker, leaving top scorer Viktor Gyokeres on the bench.

Havertz thought he should have won a penalty midway through the first half after appearing to be clipped by Michael Keane while breaking through on goal, but the referee waved away the appeals.
Everton, missing key centre-backs James Tarkowski and Jarrad Branthwaite, still posed a threat. Dwight McNeil struck the post with a curling effort, while Beto forced a fine save from Arsenal goalkeeper David Raya early in the second half.
Arsenal struggled to break down the visitors, with Eberechi Eze testing Pickford from distance as tension grew around the stadium.
Arteta eventually turned to Dowman from the bench, and the teenager made an immediate impact. Pickford misjudged the youngster’s cross, and the ball ricocheted off Piero Hincapie into the path of Gyokeres, who tapped into an empty net.
There was even greater drama deep into stoppage time. Dowman collected the ball in his own half, skipped past Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall and raced through on goal before finishing calmly.
At 16 years and 73 days, Dowman broke the long-standing record held by James Vaughan to become the youngest scorer in Premier League history, capping a memorable night for Arsenal.
