DRC forces describe M23 withdrawal as a “decoy”

The Congolese military described the withdrawal of M23 rebels from a strategic city close to the regional capital, Goma, as a “decoy”.

In line with the military, the rebels have been strengthening their positions in different areas.

In latest months the M23 rebels have conquered huge areas in japanese Congo advancing inside a number of dozen kilometres of Goma.

On Friday, M23 rebels met representatives of a regional army power (East African Group Regional Power, Ed.) at hand over management of a strategic city.

In line with the DRC military, the rebels intention is now to occupy the territory west of Goma.

The military additionally referred to clashes that broke out on Friday in Virunga Nationwide Park between the armed forces and the rebels.

The DRC has repeatedly accused Rwanda of supporting the M23 insurgent motion, allegations denied by the neighbouring nation.

A report by unbiased consultants working for the UN Safety Council refers to Rwanda’s alleged assist for the M23 insurgent motion.
