Dangote Group has officially distanced itself from two fatal accidents that occurred in Enugu State on Wednesday, September 3, 2025, emphasising that none of its vehicles were involved.
In a press statement, the company clarified that the trucks implicated in the crashes belonged to Visco Investment Global and Global Investment, not the Dangote Group. The statement followed widespread social media reports incorrectly attributing the incidents to Dangote trucks.
According to confirmations from the Enugu State Police Command, the first crash occurred around 9 a.m. on the Enugu inbound lane. A Howo truck, marked with “Visco Investment Global” and carrying bags of white cement from Aba, Abia State, collided with a Toyota Corolla attempting to overtake another vehicle.
A Foton bus and a Daihatsu Hijet mini bus were also involved. Tragically, five occupants of the Toyota Corolla and one passenger in the mini bus lost their lives in the incident.
The second accident happened at about 3 p.m. on the same road, involving a Sino truck owned by Global Investment and a tricycle. The truck, transporting cement from Garriki, Enugu, to Nenwe in Aninri LGA, struck the tricycle on the inward-bound lane, resulting in the deaths of all four occupants, who later succumbed at the hospital.
Dangote Group expressed condolences to the victims and their families, stating: “We extend our heartfelt sympathies to those affected by these tragic incidents.”
The company reiterated previous warnings to truck operators against using its logo without authorisation. It further noted that it will increase scrutiny and pursue legal action against any unauthorised use of its brand, particularly on vehicles not affiliated with the Group.
