Cyclone Montha Update: Visakhapatnam and Vijayawada international airports on Tuesday, 28 October 2025, cancelled all their scheduled flights as Andhra Pradesh braced for the impact of the severe cyclonic storm ‘Montha,’ reported PTI, citing officials aware of the development.

The Visakhapatnam International Airport reportedly cancelled 32 of its scheduled flights on Tuesday, while the Vijayawada International Airport cancelled 16 remaining flights, after managing to operate five flights.

“Actually, we are operating 30 to 32 movements (flights) daily, domestic as well as international. Today, all those flights are cancelled,” Visakhapatnam Airport Director N Purushottam told the news agency.

Purushottam also said that on Monday, 27 October 2025, two Air India Express flights were cancelled. Except those two flights, the remaining 30 flights were operated on Monday from the Visakhapatnam airport.

“Yesterday (Monday), there was only one flight cancellation to Vizag. But today, 16 flights were cancelled to various destinations, including Delhi, Mumbai, across the country,” Lakshmikanth Reddy, the Vijayawada Airport Director, told the news agency.

According to the report, four flights were cancelled at Tirupati Airport, while 120 trains were called off on 27-28 October 2025 due to the upcoming cyclone.

IndiGo issues travel advisory

India’s largest airline operator, IndiGo, on Tuesday issued a travel advisory announcing that its flight operations to and from Vijayawada, Visakhapatnam and Rajahmundry airports will be affected due to prevailing cyclonic conditions and heavy rainfall expected in the region.

“Due to prevailing cyclone conditions and heavy rainfall expected in and around #Vijayawada, #Visakhapatnam and #Rajahmundry, flight operations to and from these cities are affected,” said IndiGo in its post on X.

The airline recommended that its passengers check their flight status before leaving for the airport to avoid any delays due to waterlogging or traffic congestion

“We advise all customers to check their flight status before heading to the airport. As waterlogging and traffic congestion are anticipated, please plan your journey with extra travel time,” said IndiGo in its post.

In case the passengers face flight cancellations, they will be able to rebook their tickets or claim a refund through the airline’s official portal.

“Your safety and comfort remain our top priority, please stay safe and take care,” said IndiGo in its post.
