Crystal Palace and Wolves close to Strand Larsen deal

According to multiple sources, Crystal Palace have come very close to reaching a full agreement with Wolverhampton Wanderers over the signing of striker Jorgen Strand Larsen. If completed, the deal is expected to pave the way for Jean-Philippe Mateta to leave Selhurst Park, amid reported interest from Juventus and Nottingham Forest.

Strand Larsen has only scored once in 21 appearances in the Premier League this season (six goals and two assists in 25 matches across all competitions), but those numbers aren’t considered by many as a reflection of his quality as Wolves struggle for top-flight survival.

A verbal agreement in principle is said to be done, but the offer is still to be officially submitted and accepted. Palace have already broken their transfer record once this month when they signed Brennan Johnson from Tottenham Hotspur, but they will have to do it again with Strand Larsen as Wolves want close to £55million – a sum they rejected from Newcastle for his services last summer.
