Victor Boniface made his full debut for Werder Bremen in their Bundesliga game on Friday…

Werder Bremen defender Amos Pieper has praised Super Eagles striker Victor Boniface, following his full debut for the club in their 1-0 win over Union Berlin on Friday, Soccernet.ng reports.

When Boniface joined The Green and Whites in the summer transfer window, he was expected to play an important role for the club this season, given his quality and antecedents.

However, coach Horst Steffen took a surprising approach with the 24-year-old striker, as Boniface only got mimutes off the bench in his first five games for Werder Bremen.

But on Friday, Boniface finally got his breakthrough, as he started for The Green and Whites when they faced Union Berlin.

The Super Eagles star got 84 minutes of action, and put up a really good performance even though he did not score. He registered five goal attempts, 40 touches and created one chance.

Marco Grull scored the eventual winning goal for The Green and Whites, as they ran out with the win.

Following the victory, Werder Bremen defender Pieper, who had an outstanding performance had really nice things to say about Boniface.

He admitted that the Super Eagles star’s ability on the ball was important for them in the final third.

“In the first half, he (Boniface) had many surprising moves where he turned things up, shifted the play, and did clever or crazy things. That can be good for games like this,” Pieper said, per Deich Stube.

Victor Boniface Has To Break His 7-Month Barren Run

Now that Victor Boniface has started his first game at Werder Bremen, his next target must be to end his seven-month barren run.

The Super Eagles star has not scored a goal since March 28, in Bayer Leverkusen’s 3-1 Bundesliga win over Bochum. This is a terrible run that no striker wants to have. So he will be hoping to score soon.

Werder Bremen’s next game is a Bundesliga game against Mainz next week Saturday.
