The Ballon d’Or nominees have been announced, and Chiamaka Nnadozie is among the elite
Super Falcons goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie has been nominated for the Ballon d’Or Yachine Trophy, Soccernet.ng reports.
Nnadozie is coming off a wonderful year at club and national team level. She spent last season with French Premiere Ligue club Paris and was a top performer for them.
Nnadozie recorded a 78% save percentage in the league. She also helped them win the French Cup after defeating big wigs PSG via penalty shoot-outs.
Her brilliance not just earned her a place in the league’s team of the season, it also got her a transfer to English Women’s Super League club Brighton and Hove Ladies.
On the international scene, 24-year-old star has continued to stamp her authority as the undisputed number 1 for the Super Falcons.

She played a key role in the Super Falcons’ 10th Women’s Africa Cup of Nations success in Morocco last month.
She has now been recognized for her brilliance in between the sticks. This is as she has been nominated for the 2025 Yachine Trophy for the best goalkeepers in the world.

Arsenal goalie Daphne Van Domselaar is also one of the nominees. She won the Women’s Champions League with Arsenal last season.
Barcelona and Spain goalkeeper Cata Coll also makes the list. She won the LaLiga Femeni with the Blaugrana last season and reached the final of the Euros with Spain, where they lost to England.

Gotham FC star Ann-Katrin Berger also makes the cut. She won the inaugural edition of the CONCACAF Women’s Champions Cup and reached the semifinals of the Euros with Germany, where they suffered a painful 1-0 loss to Spain in extra time.
These are all top contenders for the Yachine Trophy. Nnadozie will hope that she claims the award when the ceremony takes place in September 2022. If that happens, she will be the first Nigerian goalie to win it.
