Chelsea kicked off the weekend in style with a 2-0 win against Fulham in a lively London derby at Stamford Bridge on Saturday.

The match had its first flashpoint inside the opening half-hour when Fulham thought they had taken the lead through Josh King, but VAR intervened to rule the goal out after Rodrigo Muniz was judged to have fouled Trevoh Chalobah in the buildup. The decision left the visitors frustrated and gave Chelsea a chance to settle into the game.

The breakthrough eventually came just before the interval. Enzo Fernández delivered a pinpoint corner, which João Pedro rose highest to meet, guiding his header past Bernd Leno to hand the Blues a narrow halftime lead.

Chelsea doubled their advantage after the restart following another VAR intervention. Ryan Sessegnon was adjudged to have handled the ball inside the box, and Fernández calmly converted from the spot to make it 2-0.

Fulham pushed forward in search of a response, but Marco Silva’s men could not find a way through a well-organised Chelsea backline.

The Fulham boss expressed his displeasure after the game, insisting that key refereeing calls swung the contest against his side.

For Chelsea, the victory not only extends their unbeaten run but also moves them to the top of the Premier League table, a boost of confidence as the season gathers pace.
