Dominic Calvert-Lewin has revealed he will leave Everton on a free transfer on July 1.
Calvert-Lewin joined Everton for £1.5m in 2016 after rising through the ranks at Sheffield United and went on to become a key player for the Toffees.
The striker made 239 Premier League appearances for Everton, scoring 57 goals. However, he only netted three times in 26 outings in 2024-25.
Calvert-Lewin has been impacted by injuries at various times in recent seasons, being limited to just 17 league appearances in both 2021-22 and 2022-23.
He only started 20 or more matches in three of his nine campaigns with Everton (30 in 2019-20, 32 in 2020-21 and 26 in 2023-24), with those seasons also being the only occasions on which he played more than 2,000 minutes in the Premier League.
Despite those issues, Calvert-Lewin has reportedly attracted interest from Newcastle United and Manchester United, and he is now free to join a new club as a free agent.
Taking to Instagram on Sunday, Calvert-Lewin wrote: “To Everton Football Club and the Evertonians, after nine remarkable years at this club, I’ve made the incredibly difficult decision, together with my family, to begin a new chapter in my career.
“This isn’t something I chose lightly. Everton has been my home since I was 19 years old. It’s the place that saw potential in me, challenged me to grow, and shaped me both as a footballer and as a man.
“I want to express my gratitude to all the managers and coaches I’ve worked with over the years, and to my team-mates, who have become lifelong friends.
“Above all, I want to speak to you, the fans. Your passion is the beating heart of this club. Whether times were good or tough, your unwavering support never faltered.
“Celebrating goals at Goodison Park, feeling that roar, is an experience I’ll carry with me. This choice to move on was not simply about me.
“It was a decision my family and I spent a long time considering together. We believe it’s the right moment to seek a new challenge and continue growing, but that doesn’t lessen the bond I’ll always have with Everton.
“My hope is that I leave with your respect, knowing I always sought to uphold the values of this great club. Thank you for everything.”
Calvert-Lewin is one of just four Everton players to score 10 or more Premier League goals across the last four seasons, with 12. Abdoulaye Doucoure (15), Dwight McNeil (14) and Beto (11) are the others, though Doucoure has also left as a free agent.
