Premier League newcomers Burnley have strengthened their defence with the arrivals of Quilindschy Hartman and Axel Tuanzebe.

Hartman arrives at Turf Moor on a four-year deal from Eredivisie side Feyenoord, having won the top flight and KNVB Cup under now Liverpool boss Arne Slot.

The Dutch international missed 19 league games last season due to having knee surgery, but was still able to make 12 appearances in the Eredivisie.

Hartman will join a defence that conceded just 16 goals and recorded a division-high 30 clean sheets on their way to winning promotion from the Championship last season.

“It’s a really special feeling of hunger and excitement,” Hartman told the club’s official website after sealing his move to Turf Moor.

“From the first moment I spoke to the coach [Scott Parker], I was really excited and impressed and I would say he was the biggest influence in me coming here.”

The Clarets also welcomed Ipswich Town’s Tuanzebe on a free transfer following the expiry of his contract at Portmand Road later on Friday.

Tuanzebe made 45 appearances in all competitions for the Tractor Boys and was influential in their promotion to the Premier League during the 2023-24 campaign.

The 27-year-old appeared 22 times in the top flight last season, and has decided to remain in the Premier League, reportedly signing a one-year deal with Burnley.

“It became a very simple decision after speaking to the manager and the message was very clear, precise and straight to the point,” said Tuanzebe.

“It’s a new chapter for me, back in the vicinity of Manchester and home, and I’m ready to continue my journey now at Burnley.”

The pair have become Scott Parker’s second and third additions of the summer window, having already completed a deal for goalkeeper Max Weiss earlier this week.
