Nov. 4 (UPI) — The Arizona Cardinals remain committed to starting quarterback Kyler Murray, despite Jacoby Brissett’s success in the role, coach Jonathan Gannon announced.

Gannon made the declaration after Brissett threw for 261 yards and accounted for three scores while leading the Cardinals to a 27-17 win over the Dallas Cowboys on Monday in Arlington, Texas, snapping a five-game losing streak. Murray remains sidelined by a foot injury.

“Nothing’s changed,” Gannon said, when asked if Murray would return to a starting role. “That’s just how I feel.”

Brissett completed 21 of 31 passes and found the end zone twice through the air. He also ran for a touchdown. The Cardinals out-gained the Cowboys 340 to 333 in total yards and held a 23-22 edge in first downs. The Cardinals defense forced three turnovers.

Brissett, who filled in for Murray as the starter over the Cardinals’ last four games, completed 65.2% of his throws for 860 yards, six scores and one interception over five total appearances in 2025.

Murray completed 68.3% of his throws for 962 yards, six scores and three interceptions in five starts this season. He also ran for 173 yards and a score.

Gannon said Murray “just wasn’t healthy enough to go.” The Cardinals coach told reporters Saturday that a placement on injured reserve, which would trigger and automatic absence of at least four games, was not in consideration for Murray.

Brissett said he didn’t “get into that stuff,” when asked if he felt like he’s done enough to be the Cardinals’ full-time starter.

“I’m just trying to go out here, win games, be a good teammate and do the best that I can when I get my opportunity,” Brissett said. “That’s all I can ask for.”

The Cardinals (3-5) will face the Seattle Seahawks (6-2) on Sunday in Seattle.
