President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has submitted the names of three ambassadorial nominees to the Senate for screening and confirmation.

The announcement was made by Senate President Godswill Akpabio during plenary on Wednesday. The session was broadcast live on the National Assembly’s YouTube channel.

The nominees are:

  • Kayode Are from Ogun State
  • Aminu Dalhatu from Jigawa State
  • Ayodele Oke

While reading the President’s letter, Akpabio noted that the list is only the first batch. “The list contains three names for now. I am sure others will follow,” he said.

President Tinubu, who assumed office in 2023, has come under criticism for not appointing ambassadors earlier, leaving several diplomatic posts vacant for months.
