Blue Jay swim and dive team earns multiple top-three finishes

JAMESTOWN — Blue Jay swimmers keep getting faster.

Seventh grader Sawyer Moser put up another impressive performance in the pool during the Jays’ meet against Fargo Shanley. Moser turned in a third-place finish in the 200 yard freestyle and a second-place finish in the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:11. Moser was also a part of the Blue Jays’ 200 medley and 400 freestyle relays.

Shanley won Tuesday’s dual with a team score of 124 while the Blue Jays put up 59 total points. The Blue Jays will be back in action on Oct. 23 hosting West Fargo Sheyenne. The dual is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m.

Marissa Moltzen placed third in both the 50 freestyle and the 100 butterfly. Sophie Gilbertson went on to place second in the 500 freestyle contest, touching the wall at 6:25.96.

Senior Jozie Davis won the 1-meter diving contest with a score of 167.05 points.

Volleyball completes regular-season sweep on Tuesday

Jamestown High School’s volleyball team picked up its fourth-straight win on Tuesday, dispatching Legacy 25-27, 25-13, 25-17, 25-19. The win puts the Jays at 15-10 overall and 9-4 in the West Region. Final stats were unavailable when The Jamestown Sun went to press.

The Jays are 2-0 against Legacy this regular season. Jamestown previously defeated the Sabers 3-1 on Sept. 9

Head coach Sara Hegerle and her squad won’t be back in action until Oct. 21 when they host Minot North. First serve between the Sentinels and Jays is set for 7 p.m.
