Coach Philip Snyman is waiting to hear if two of the Blitzboks’ key playmakers will be available for their Cape Town Sevens semi-final against France on Sunday afternoon.

The Blitzboks finished top of the log in Pool A after they pipped Fiji 24-21, beat New Zealand 19-14 and thrashed Great Britain 41-7 on Saturday.

Those results set them on a collision course with France in the last four, with the match scheduled to kick off at 12:22pm on Sunday afternoon.

SPRINGBOK SEVENS HIT WITH MULTIPLE INJURIES

However, injuries to multiple key players put a dampener on the elation in the Blitzbok camp.

Speaking to the media after the final pool game on Saturday night, Snyman confirmed that Selvyn Davids, Ronald Brown and Zander Reynders all picked up injury niggles.

While Reynders, who missed the last game of the day, is expected to be fit for the semi-final, the Blitzboks face a nervy wait for the overnight medical reports of Davids and Brown.

“We rested Zander Reynders for the final match as well, but I am expecting him to be 100% in the morning,” the Blitzbok coach said.

PREVIEWING THE BLITZBOKS VS FRANCE SEMI-FINAL

Looking ahead at the match against France, a team they beat against in Dubai last weekend, Snyman said it will be a new day and a new game.

“That was then, this is now,” he said.

“We will have to come out tomorrow, be clinical and even better than today. We will have a look at them later in the evening, to see what we can expect from them tomorrow. What I do know is that we will be able to draw massive energy from the crowd on Sunday, they really are like an extra player for us.”
