The Buffalo Bills are going to be a force to be reckoned with this season.

Trailing by 15 points with under four minutes remaining, it seemed that the Bills were going to suffer a big (regular-season) loss to the Baltimore Ravens for a second consecutive year.

Josh Allen, Ed Oliver and Matt Prater had other plans as Buffalo pulled off one of the more insane comebacks in recent memory and cemented itself as the team to beat in the AFC.

Buffalo’s defense, which had been getting gashed all night long, stepped up in a major way. It was the previously mentioned Oliver who forced a Derrick Henry fumble to get the ball back after trimming the lead to eight points.

The defense forced the biggest three-and-out of the game with the Bills trailing by two points with under two minutes remaining. That stop got the ball back in the hands of Allen and he led the offense down the field for Prater’s game-winning kick.

Buffalo was able to complete the 15-point comeback and escape with a 41-40 win over the Ravens. The comeback was completed by Prater’s game-winning 41-yard field goal in his first game in a Bills uniform. He was outstanding for the entirety of the game, but it was the reigning MVP who took over in the final minutes.

In the fourth quarter alone, Allen completed 16 passes for 251 yards and three touchdowns (one passing, two rushing). That’s a career game for a lot of quarterbacks and Allen did it all in one quarter. He proved why he was the rightful MVP last season and if Week 1 is any indication for the rest of the season, he certainly has another MVP award in the future.

Sunday’s game proved that Buffalo should never be considered out of a game. Regardless of the score and the time on the clock, having a dynamic playmaker such as Allen under center is always enough to keep your team in the game.

It may time for the national media to recognize the Bills as the favorites in the AFC over the Kansas City Chiefs.
