We’re delighted to announce the winners of the 2024 Cookie Alternate, hosted by Style of Residence and Kelsey Elizabeth! Again in October, Ohio bakery proprietor Kelsey Shepard invited her Instagram followers to hitch us in Cleveland on December 5. The 300 tickets bought out in three minutes!
On the night time of the Cookie Alternate, proficient bakers from throughout the Midwest—and even one from Washington State—braved snowy roads to attend the celebration with their six dozen rigorously crafted cookies in tow. Everybody nibbled their manner via numerous snickerdoodles, spritz, gingerbread, rugelach and extra, then crammed a field with their favorites to take residence.
Whereas visitors mingled and munched, judges (aka the hosts) scouted out the tastiest, most lovely cookies within the bunch. It was clear that each cookie and bar was made with love, making it a troublesome job. These are the treats they couldn’t cease excited about, in no specific order.
The High Cookies
Mini Cranberry Pavlovas
Baked by Devin Trout from Lorain, Ohio
These mini meringue nests have been crispy on the skin and gooey on the within, similar to a pavlova needs to be. The judges have been smitten with the cute little jars of home made cranberry-orange sauce included in Devin’s interactive show.
Embellished Sugar Cookie Cutouts
Baked by Melissa Falk from Avon, Ohio
Melissa describes herself as a decorator first, however her buttery sugar cookies tasted as divine as they regarded. She flooded her cutout Christmas timber with royal icing, and scattered edible beads and extra icing excessive for a cultured design.
An Ode to Lekko Shortbread Cookies

Tracy began off on the Cookie Alternate waitlist, and we’re so glad a spot opened up for her! Her darkish chocolate cookies have been based mostly on a household recipe for Texas sheet cake. Similar to their full-size namesake, Tracy’s moist and chewy cookies have been slathered with crackly chocolate icing.
Hungarian Nut Roll Cookies
