Saudi Pro League side Al Nassr are reportedly prepared to part ways with Cristiano Ronaldo following a deepening rift with club officials.

Ronaldo was left out of the Al-Nassr squad for the second game in a row amid doubts over his future at the Saudi Arabian club.

Al-Nassr beat Al-Ittihad 2-0 on Friday in the Saudi Pro League after late goals from former Liverpool forward Sadio Mane and Angelo Gabriel.

According to reports, Al Nassr are now “ready to offload” Ronaldo, with the club said to be firm on the principle that no individual player is bigger than the broader project they are building within the Saudi Pro League.

Tensions have reportedly intensified in recent weeks, with the former Real Madrid and Manchester United star unhappy over what he perceives as a lack of ambition and backing in the transfer market. Ronaldo is said to believe that other Public Investment Fund (PIF)-linked clubs have received preferential treatment, citing Karim Benzema’s high-profile move to Al Hilal as a key example.

The dispute culminated in Ronaldo sitting out Al Nassr’s recent Saudi Pro League victories over Al Riyadh and Al Ittihad, fuelling speculation that he had effectively gone on strike. Spanish outlet Fichajes claims the situation escalated further after details emerged of a release clause in his contract, reportedly set at around £44 million and due to become active at the end of the season.

The report adds that Ronaldo has formally informed PIF and Saudi Pro League officials of his intention to leave if the situation is not resolved. Interest is said to be emerging from Major League Soccer, as well as former clubs Manchester United and Sporting CP, who are monitoring developments ahead of the 2026 World Cup.
